Personal study. A longhouse of the Linear Pottery culture, the first farming communities of central and western Europe.

Above the postholes there is no direct evidence at all, which is why the structure follows the results of experimental archaeology. Excavation gives the plan, the post diameters and the spacing; everything from the wall treatment to the roof pitch has to be inferred from full scale reconstructions that were actually built and stood up. The setting is not a specific site.
